It's no secret that words sell products, not pictures. The debate continues over what is better to use when filling in your Website homepage. If you're a visual person, you'll lean towards more product pictures. If you're a technical person, you'll probably lean to more text. However, a rule most people forget when designing the look of their websites, is that you're not designing it for you. You're designing it for your customers.

Filed under: CellphonesPizza Hut has joined rivals Domino's and Papa John's in implementing a nationwide order-by-text service, giving customers even easier access to its tasty-but-greasy fare. To take advantage of the "Total Mobile Access" feature, you have to visit the Pizza Hut website for a one-time registration of your mobile number, along with setting up your so-called "pizza playlist" to enable easier ordering. You can also satisfy your pizza jones by hitting up the same site on a mobile browser, which provides an optimized version of the desktop ordering system that has been in place for several years.

This article should have been published yesterday but I was incredibly busy throughout the week and so didn't have the time to write. Let's jump right in to this week's advice column.
Dosh Dosh reader Akemi Gaines wrote in last week and asked one simple question: "How do you measure the success of a blog?"

This guest post was submitted by Patrick who blogs at Piggy Bank Pie Writing Services.
I started 2008 with a post that went viral on StumbleUpon and BloggingZoom. Even Skellie and Caroline Middlebrook took the story back to their respective blogs. For those interested, the post in question was How I Received 850 Visitors Without Using Social Media Sites.

As a web publisher I get a lot of ideas for my sites, and sometimes I don't take time to write them all down. So I've created a twitter account just for my sites. It's call an Idea Streaming Account. It's an organic place to place ideas that I want to reflect on and let incubate for awhile before I do anything with them. It's a private place for ideas that I can reflect on and see if they are going to work for me. Some of the advantages of having limits on the length of your ideas include creative sandboxing. Creating limits for your ideas can box you in or it can allow you to have an automatic starting point.

Twitter is a micro blogging platform which allows you to publish short messages of less than 140 characters through different mediums like IM, cellphones and the web.
It has a social element as well, as it allows users to befriend and monitor each other's messages or updates. So what you have here is a publishing tool that can be either public and private.

As I was waiting with my son in his Doctor's waiting room I started reading one of the many pamphlets that they had sitting around. I happened to pick up one of the pamphlet's titled Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I smiled as I read it as I always felt that I was obsessed with Social Media. And, even though I haven't been diagnosed with OCD I suppose having it might be a possibility. That possibility got me thinking… What if Social Media was a disorder?

If your blog comments strip HTML and links when published, you are missing out on a meaningful part of the blog conversation.
I am always getting comments with links in them on my blogs. They direct the readers and myself to similar or related information, often information I need and have requested. I love links such as tips on how to do it better, answers to questions, or instructions on how to fix what's broken, or links to their post so they can show off what they wrote, inspired by my work.
