Spanish language social networking site Sonico is the biggest social networking site you've probably never heard of before today. If you haven't you wouldn't be alone, it has zero hits in Google News as I write this post.
Buenos Aires based Sonico from FNBox launched in August 2007 with the usual social networking mix of message boards, profiles and networks based on school or workplace. Nothing remarkable, until you look at the numbers.

When getting links, the most important thing is to get them on pages that are relevant to our website's content. Sometimes it can be difficult to get this kind of links, so what we can do is generate new pages that are relevant to our website's content and link from them to our site.

The fundamental premise of search marketing remains revolutionary and timeless. We research what people care about and market (organic and paid) directly to SERPs for their queries. Classic keyword research reveals search frequency and phrase permutations to gauge marketplace interest. Lateral stemming thesaurus tools help us brainstorm frequently used alternate keyword clusters. For instance if your 're marketing "catering services," some customers are also searching for "wedding food" and "party planning." This is not earth shaking news to most.

Lawsuits are nothing new for Google. Most of them lean towards the silly and patent-infringement type. But when they're getting accused of intellectual property theft, it's a whole other ball game.
According to Elinor Mills of CNET, Google has received a lawsuit to the tune of $25 million dollars over their supposed theft of the idea for Google Sky.

1. You don't need to apologize for calling it Web 3.0. Of course the Web does not upgrade in one go like a company switching to Vista. But there is a definite phase transition from current technologies. My personal Web 3.0 definition is "the combination of Web 2.0 mass collaboration with structured databases".

In the past week I had two drastically different articles make the front page of Digg, with drastically different results.
The first one resulted in authority link snowballing, the second one did not.
Why?
Well, the first article was amazing, the second article was mediocre. The first article was written to attract attention, the second one wasn't even written to get on Digg (it happened accidentally because a Digg poweruser just decided to submit some random opinion article).

The Wall Street Journal put up an interesting article today about profile thieves. These guys don't want your Social Security number or your bank account information, they just want to be cool. Like you. And they do it by ripping off your social networking profile, word-by-word.
