It's great that you have worked hard on your SEO, (Search Engine Optimization) knowledge and skills and have achieved decent, or even first page placement in the search engine results.

It's even better that when the visitor arrives at your site, they are greeted with a beautifully designed website. Afterall, you've worked hard at developing your design knowledge and skills.

All Clicks Aren't Created Equal: Q&A With Danny Sullivan
Published by Search Engine Land: News About Search Engines & Search Marketing on February 17, 2008

Comments

Earlier this month, in a blog post reporting our clients' aggregate ad spend across the major search engines, we noted that Google's slice of the pay-per-click pie increased across 2007. I wrote

"We never sat down and had meetings about moving budgets. Rather, our systems noticed that ever-so-slightly better clicks could be had on Google and so shifted spend there. "Better" in this context means "more likely to generate sales dollars or margin dollars for our clients".

In August of 2007, I heard from several sources that Mike Blumenthal of the Understanding Google Maps & Yahoo! Local blog was a rising star in the field of local search. I shot him an email and I've been hoping to get an interview with him ever since. Thankfully, he's finally acquiesced - enjoy!

Aspiring Entrepreneurs: No Money? No Problem! Get Started Today
Published by Small Business Trends | small business experts on February 17, 2008

Comments

Many of us have aspirations to own our own business - to be our own boss. Every year hundreds of thousands of small businesses get started by people just like you and me; people who have an idea for a product or service and follow through on it.

You may have an idea for a business but think because you don't have the money that your dream of starting your own business will never be a reality.

Sharing Content with Dosh Dosh Readers (and a Link Roundup)
Published by Dosh Dosh | Internet Marketing & Social Media on February 17, 2008

Comments

I am thinking about changing the way I share links and content with all of you. Up to now, I've shared links via a roundup like this or contextually within articles. Maybe it's time to try something new.

I considered creating a separate link blog (like this) but am a little hesitant about it because it won't really give these links adequate exposure. Instead of being on the main channel they are displayed on a less frequented part of the blog.

LED displays keep folks guessing at nightclub bathrooms
Published by Engadget on February 17, 2008

Comments

Interactive nightclubs aren't entirely unheard of, but we'll be sure to relieve ourselves just before prancing into any party scene with these displays on the lavatory doors. The small LED Matrix displays can be mounted on both male and female doors, and the image shown can be switched as folks enter and leave. Needless to say, such a setup caused quite a bit of hilariousness / confusion when caught on candid camera, so be sure and take a peek for yourself after the break.

SEO, Social Marketing & Scientology
Published by Search Engine Watch Blog on February 17, 2008

Comments

My last post, about how YouTube's new features will affect internet marketers, garnered a lot of attention—but not from SEO and PPC professionals. It was my first paragraph, about YouTube's response to the Anonymous-vs-Scientology online battle, that got attention.

Shortly after I posted that YouTube had not removed Anonymous' initial YouTube threat/message to Scientology, SEW was flooded with replies that YouTube had just removed it, citing a Terms of Use violation (which in theory was valid, although rarely, if ever, enforced on YouTube). Today, perhaps owing to the protests of members and the mainstream coverage this conflict is beginning to get, the video was back up (although honors for it are not being tracked correctly).

The Speed Of The Web: Do We Realize How Far We Have Come
Published by Search Engine Watch Blog on February 17, 2008

Comments

You hear it all the time, "the world moves fast" with high speed connections and wireless access, we have come a long way in a very short time.

While the web is enjoying its Sweet Sixteen - even back at the beginning the connection speeds were limited - 14.4 modems were fast and maxing out phone speed connections had not even occurred.

Is Grammar Going Down The Tubes?
Published by The Golden Pencil: The Freelance Writer's Resource on February 17, 2008

Boss Hatch, a fairly new blog at b5media is dedicated to the younger business person. A couple of months ago, blogger Jim Gorden created a post called: da fate of gud grammer

It's a nifty rant about how written language may be deteriorating among the young. My hunch is his example is a pretty good example of the way teens text each other on their cell phones and much of it is simply finding efficient ways to type on the darn things.

Why The Vast Majority of SEOs No Longer Target Individual Search Engines
Published by SEOmoz Daily SEO Blog on February 17, 2008

Comments

Posted by randfish

A long time ago (at least, in web years), search engine optimization required specific targeting practices for each of the engines. For Hotbot, you'd need to place two repetitions of every keyword side-by-side in your meta keywords tag, while for Northern Light, a picture of at least one dancing baby in the bottom right-hand corner made all the difference
